Crested Butte residents have justifiable pride at being there at the beginning of mountain biking. While the sport has a short history, that history is just a little bit longer in Crested Butte than in most places.
Crested Butte Mountain Biking
The singletrack that literally drops you off on the streets of Crested Butte is plentiful. It’s common for people to ride straight from the trail to downtown. That’s why you’ll see so many bikes overflowing the racks in towns at the best apres bars.
Beyond that easy-access trail, there are hundreds of miles more to explore just a short distance away. Ride the roads from town, drive to a trailhead, or even link up the town singletrack to other trails a little farther away to maximize your time on the dirt.
Crested Butte Apres Mountain Bike
The CB apres bike scene is so good that even if you finish a ride on Strand, you may drive from the Brush Creek Trailhead to Crested Butte just to hang out there.
With bars, patios, and coffeeshops up and down Elk, it’s just a great spot to chill. You’ll also be the only one who cares that you’re still in your chamois and bike shoes. Covered in mud? No problem. Image isn’t a big deal here. People are more likely to check out your bike than your fashion.
