The heritage of mountain biking runs deep in the Gunnison Valley, especially Crested Butte. Since the early 1970s, Crested Buttians and visitors from out of town have been exploring our Valley on two wheels: building new trails and racing down them (both formally and informally). The history of the sport of mountain biking is inextricably linked to those early pioneers from nearly 50 years ago.
This November Aaron Gulley of Outside Magazine recognized that legacy of mountain biking when he wrote an article titled Crested Butte is the Country’s Best Mountain Bike Destination. To say that we’re stoked on this honor is an understatement. Thanks, Aaron and Outside, for your words including:

But after another trip to Crested Butte late this summer, I realized that if I were forced to choose only one place to ride for the rest of my life, this would be it. Mile for mile, trail for trail, the riding in this little town in central Colorado is second to none.
